Adductor Stretch - Sitting

This sitting adductor stretch, or sitting groin stretch, stretches the short groin muscles, which do not cross the knee joint.

Teaching points:

  • The groin muscles are stretched by sitting with the soles of the feet together as shown.
  • A downward force is applied from the elbows, until a stretch is felt high up in the groin.
  • This should not cause pain! If pain is felt, stop immediately.
  • Hold for 20-30 seconds, rest and repeat 2-3 times.
